I Have No Ideas…

Matthew Dicks is the author of Storyworthy (the best book on storytelling ever). Talks about how we all have stories, but we don’t write them down. Check out his TED talk on “Homework for Life.”

​In my latest episode of the School of Podcasting, I asked people how they came up with ideas for their show. In a nutshell, it boils down to this:

• Always be looking
• Write them down

Some items are much more specific, but if you talk to any seasoned podcaster, they will tell you how they’ve had excellent ideas for episodes slip through their fingers. You think you’re going to remember it. I mean, come on, this is such a great idea; there's no way you’ll forget it.

Until you do, and then it’s gone.

For me, I use Notejoy as it’s an app that works via the web, your phone, or tablet. If you’re struggling for ideas, it may not be that you don’t have any ideas, but rather that you have ideas, but they are evaporating before you capture them.
