Do you feel like you're just not a "podcast person?"
Do you feel like you're just not a "podcast person?" This is something I hear from countless aspiring creators. It's probably one of the most common comments I get when people discover I teach podcasting, and a major reason people have for never starting their show. See, many people think there are "podcast people" and "non-podcast people". We assume that podcasting is only for those extroverted personalities who seem naturally gifted at talking into a microphone, building audiences from thin air, and somehow knowing exactly what equipment to buy. So… let's talk about it! Have you ever felt overwhelmed thinking about starting a podcast? (There are literally thousands of decisions to make). You sit there with 17 tabs open, each one claiming to be the “Ultimate Guide to Podcasting.” Are you avoiding launching your show because it seems too complicated to do alone? I bet you've felt like nobody would actually listen to what you have to say. Imagine finally deciding you want to start that podcast you've been thinking about for months… You're excited about sharing your expertise and connecting with people… You KNOW you have valuable insights and stories that could help others… …but every time you sit down to research how to get started, you're hit with an avalanche of conflicting advice. Microphones, hosting platforms, editing software, cover art, RSS feeds… You start to believe that maybe you're just not cut out for this creator economy thing, because successful podcasters seem to have it all figured out from day one… …and if you have to learn all this technical stuff AND create content AND build an audience… That's just not gonna happen. So now you're faced with a couple of choices…
None of these are ideal. 🙁 And the choice between paralysis, wasted money, or abandoned dreams can instantly KILL your motivation to share your message with the world. So then you're left feeling like an imposter before you even begin. All because you're not a "Podcast Person." If you want to finally launch that show, build a meaningful audience, and most importantly, share your unique voice with the world - ya gotta stop drowning in podcast overwhelm. In my next email, I'll explain why this feeling of "I'm not ready yet" is so common among aspiring podcasters and what might be causing you to feel like your podcasting dreams are out of reach. Talk soon, P.S. So, are you a "podcast person" or a "non-podcast person"? Hit reply and let me know what's really holding you back from hitting record. |
